Genesis of Jahangir Memorial Charitable Hospital Society Allahabad can be traced back to the year 1979 when a unique initiative was undertaken for extension of the developmental schemes of the Central and State Governments and ensuring that their benefits reached real beneficiaries. Under this initiative, the founder members established the first charitable hospital at Bahadurganj, Allahabad. A long journey of struggle came into existence in 1979 when foundation of Jahangir Memorial Charitable Hospital Society Allahabad was laid by Hon. Dr. Anwar Ahmad. His sincere efforts lead the society to be registered in year 1982 under Societies Registration Act 1995 (Act no. 21 of 1860). Its secular, non- political and charitable nature has made this organization of National Importance. True commitment towards selfless social service resulted in registration of the society under foreign contribution regulation Act . Thereafter the society was registered under Handicapped Act 1995 (Act no.52 of 1995). Over viewing the authenticity of this society Government of India was pleased to grant Exemption and has registered the society under Section 80G and 12 AA of the Income Tax Act 1961vide registration No. 58-59/73/12AA & 80GIAlld/9-99 on 31st March’1999. Debelling all hurdles, our Society is operating in different fields of Medical Health, Education, Child Education and Women Empowerment to audaciously a-vast the evils of our society and to make our society a better place to live in. In this direction AIDS Awareness Camps, Water Sanitation Programmes, Seminars on Cancer, Consumer Awareness, National Integration and Environment were conducted. Not only this, our true approach made Polio eradications movement a huge success. Canonically Mahatma Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Science, Sevagram, Wardha, Maharastra recognized this organization for 2 years rural placement service for direct admission in P.G. Courses for M.B.B.S. Doctors. To certificate our avouchment it is pertinent to mention here that our the society is running (26) Charitable Hospitals, (6) Girls Colleges, Vocational Training cum Rehabilitation Centre for Physically Disabled Leprosy Cured Persons and other Vocational Institutes like Mini ITI’s in various remote areas of Allahabad, Kaushambi, Mirzapur, Fatehpur, Sitapur, Chitrakoot, Rae-Bareli, Faizabad and Balia. Recently the society has established “S.S.N. Post Graduate Institute of Homoeopathy” for which Central Council of Homoeopathy has sanctioned 63 seats in M.D. (Homoeopathy) courses. Habitual of facing augean conditions the austeried staff of this organization always tried to beautify each and every face. It is only the benevolent nature of people that this society is lying miles stones in every direction that can behoof the people.
